Well what a wonderful sight.....The Upper Daly River Region would have to be one of the most picture perfect fishing locations in the Top End. Rockbars that cascade from fifteen metres high down into the water, clear green water, snags like you wouldn't beleive and picturesque sandbars lined with crocodiles....what a place to fish! Who cares if the fish aren't on!!

Nice Barra!

Classic Barra 120's, Reidys Judges and the good ol' six inch Nilsy brained about 20 fish for the day, the biggest nudging 70cm. If heading up the Daly, make sure you take a few Rapala Xrap 10's or 12's. Being a suspending minnow these lures are great for working the upstream snags and beleive me, there aint no shortage of them! Both sides of this freshwater section is lined with monsterous snags that have the word 'barramundi' written all over them!

Water temperatures are now heading skyward and that's good news for the barra boys fishing popular locations right across the territory. From inland billabongs to coastal creeks, now is the time to put in the hard yards for a rewarding result.

For those who love to fish alone, this is the place to go....just be sure to lock in the hubs on the 4WD before launching, or you might learn the hard way....just like I did!
