Dave Shepherd has been an avid fisherman all his life having been passed all the ‘family secrets’ from his late father Bill.  With over 20 years in the military as an Air Traffic Controller, he has had the op port unity to fish much of Australia and a bit overseas.  Dave has settled now in Port Stephens and having lived there for many years over the past decade, he can provide quality advice on where and how to target the local Port Stephens piscatorial species.

Steve “Wombat” Ellis was brought up in South Australia (but we won’t hold that against him) and was taught and taken fishing by his grandfather from 5 years old. This kindled a life long interest and passion with fishing. His first job at 15 years old came about when a local fishing tackle store proprietor noticed Steve's prowess with mulloway off a local wharf and offered him a part time job.

Since then he has worked extensively in the industry including as a respected rod builder and owning his own SA based stores including “The Sportsfishing Scene”.

Steve was heavily involved in ANSA, GFAA and IGFA and he had many Australian and National records under his belt.  He briefly moved in to advertising in early 1999 but has found that the tackle bug keeps calling him back.  We welcome Wombat to the team as he brings a depth of experience from Barra and gamefish to cod, bream and Jew.  It is more than just a job for Steve – it is an obsession – and he informs me “it is all about fishing where the fish are”.  Come in and have a chat to Steve about fishing all around Aus.

Paul has lived in Port Stephens all his life and has been fishing since he was a mere 3 years old.  Having a tuna/lobster fisherman as a father has seen Paul on the water from a very young age.  He wets a line around the Port most days and is a well known local Angler.  Paul is o ur resident rod repairer and he build top quality custom rods.  He literally lives, eats and breathes fishing - from fly fishing to chasing marlin. Paul was champion junior angler in the local trailer boat tournament, the 2002 runner up senior champion angler in trailer boat tournament and has won Shoal Bay fishing club estuary champion the last four years running.  Paul has been working in tackle shops in Port Stephens since 1997 and we gladly welcome him to the Got One team.  If Paul can’t put you on to some fish in the Port – no one can.
